Wythenshawe Park Cycling Hub Survey
Manchester City Council, working in partnership with British Cycling and MCRactive is planning to develop Wythenshawe Park as one of the city’s first Cycling Hubs. The hub will provide opportunities for recreational cycling in the surrounding Wythenshawe Communities by providing a mix of new cycling facilities and activities to encourage non-riders, new rider’s, and nervous riders to try cycling and develop their cycle skills.
The new development will provide new opportunities for schools and their pupils.
Essential Cycling Elements:
- Pathway improvements – for new and inexperienced riders to build up their confidence and skills in a traffic-free environment and to have an enjoyable cycling experience with friends and family or riding alone.
- Road signs – to facilitate cyclists’ usage of the park
- Learn to Ride zone – for riders of varying ages and abilities to learn to ride.
- Skills zone / activity station – for further skills development and enjoyment.
- Pump track – for further skills development and enjoyment.
- Essential Ancillary Components:
- Safe crossing points, Hire bikes, Bike storage and Coaching equipment - Bikes, Helmets for hire.
We need as many potential users of the new development to give feedback to help develop the plan and complete the application. This is being done by a short survey that takes around 2-3 minutes to complete. If you could complete the survey as a school and if possible, ask parents/pupils to do so, this will increase the likelihood of the application being successful and will also give you the opportunity to influence plans for the development.
