What happens if....

When your child first starts school there are sometimes things you are not sure of but don’t always know who to ask. We hope you find the information below useful.

  • I need someone else to collect my child at short notice

If your circumstances change, just ring the office and we will get a message to your child’s teacher and your child. We cannot let your child go home with another adult unless we have had a phone call or a note from you.

  • School is closed due to snow

In the unlikely event we have to close the school because of bad weather all parents will receive a text message and there will be a notice on the front page of the school website.

  • My child isn't keeping up with the level of homework set or I don't think my child is stretched enough

If you have any concerns about the work/ homework your child is receiving please ring the office and make an appointment to see your child’s teacher. Alternatively you could write in a note in your child’s planner.

  • I'm concerned my child is being bullied

We take all suggestions of bullying very seriously. If you have any concerns regarding your child please come into school as soon as your child brings it to your attention. Quite often we are not aware of what is happening as the child  is not telling anyone at school. Please contact your child’s teacher in the first instance. A copy of our Anti Bullying Policy is on the website for your information.

  • An after-school club is cancelled at short notice

Occasionally we do have to cancel after school clubs at short notice due to staff absence. If a club is cancelled you will receive a text message. If you are unable to collect your child, don’t worry we will keep them until you can get into school to collect them. Please ring the school and let us know if the cancellation of the club causes difficulties.

  • My child has had a sickness bug but is better now

We do have a policy in school which states that children need to stay off school for 24 hours after they were last ill. We ask that you do not send your child back into school before the bug has had a chance to work its way through their system as it will spread to the other children.

  • I want to volunteer at school

We welcome parent helpers and are always grateful of the help we receive. All volunteers need to have a full DBS carried out by the school before they can come in to help. If you would like to volunteer please ask at the office and they will give you the appropriate forms to complete. If you have any questions about being a parent volunteer please speak to Miss Tait in Year 2.

If you have any other questions you think it would be a good idea to share with others please let us know.
