Parent Carer Survey 2016

Feedback and response forms from Parent Carer Survey October 2016 to read and download below

You may remember that at the last parents’ evening we offered all parents the chance to complete a survey. We are sharing the results of the survey with you and also the actions that we will take based on the responses that you gave.

It is always pleasing when you tell us how well we are doing. We like to know that we are meeting the high expectations that you have of us. Equally, we need to know when we could do things differently to improve what we can offer for you and your child.

We would like to thank every parent who took the time to complete the questionnaire on offer at the Parents’ Evening in April. We really do value your feedback and use the data it provides us to further improve the provisions for your child.

·        This document presents the results of our Parents Evening Parent/Carer Views carried out in October 2016.

·        This Survey – and the other smaller surveys we carry out from time to time –help to shape the ongoing development of the school. Thank you to everyone who participated

2.  Some of our Responses to the survey results

  1. My child is happy at this school.

We were delighted that 100 % reported that your child is happy at school. We aim to make Newall Green Primary an exciting and stimulating place to learn.

  1. My child feels safe at this school.

Parents agree overwhelmingly that Newall Green Primary is a safe place for their child. We are delighted that 100% of children feel safe. We have several systems & procedures to ensure that we are a safe school. Of course, childhood is a fluid time and friendships change and disagreements can happen but 100% of our parents testify that their child has confidence in the team at Newall Green to provide a supportive and caring environment where good learning can take place.

  1. My child makes good progress at this school.

We work very hard as a staff to ensure that all children make the best possible progress. We will continue to work hard to maintain parental satisfaction in this area. 100% of parental support for the high class learning that happens every single day at Newall Green Primary, and for the developmental and enriching curriculum we have designed to educate the whole child.

  1. This school ensures my child is well looked after.

We’ve aimed to create a caring environment in school, within which all children feel safe and well cared for. All of the adults in school are caring and considerate with the children. We are delighted that 100% of parents have complete confidence in what we do in terms of ensuring children are well looked after.

  1. My child is taught well at this school.

We were very pleased that many of you recognised the fantastic role that the teachers and support staff play in providing your children with high quality education. This was echoed in many of the positive comments which were written.

  1. My child receives appropriate homework

We were delighted that 100 % reported that your child receives appropriate homework. Please ensure that homework is completed and handed in time every week. The benefits of the homework are;

  • It instills good learning habits for life
  • It allows children to consolidate skills learnt in class; particularly in literacy and maths
  • It engages and informs parents about children’s current learning
  • It provides opportunities for children to pursue their own line of enquiry to support a topic theme
  • It can increase pupils’ enthusiasm for learning by catering for a wide range of different learning styles
  • It can develop essential skills for children’s further education
  1. There is a good standard of behaviour at this school.

We have high expectations for good behaviour in school - all children are clear as to what those expectations are. Our ‘Peace Mala Promise’ is promoted & discussed in every classroom. We place strong emphasis on mutual respect. We have clear systems in place to reward good behaviour and deal effectively & consistently with any inappropriate behaviour. All staff, including lunchtime staff, are trained in positive behaviour management. Having said that, it’s worth noting that our aim is to enable the children to develop an understanding of why good behaviour helps them and helps others – it certainly isn’t about ‘obedience’ as such.  Our curriculum is engaging & our teaching motivates the children.

3. Parental Comments

Once again we received lots of written feedback, both positive and constructive. Thank you so much for this. Overall there was far more consensus about the school’s strengths, with particular mentions for the school’s strong sense of community, its caring, enthusiastic and motivated staff.

4. Some of the comments Parents/ Carers made that they would like to see a change about the school?

Please note that these are all individual points, from individual parents/carers/families.

Our Response

We want range of after school clubs.

Can we have a list of clubs available?

We have extended the range of after school clubs on offer.

The range of clubs on offer has been expanded to include: a multi skills club for KS1, dodge ball, football, homework, dance, choir, lacrosse and drama clubs as well as courses run with Manchester Adult Education Services for parents and children to attend.

We are constantly looking for opportunities to run more clubs.

We will make sure an updated list is available on our website / via newsletter.

Bullying needs addressing.

We are all here to help! If you’re happy, and your child is happy, then we’re happy!
